Into the Woods

Into the Woods is a branch of Blood on the Clocktower featuring the custom scripts of Angelus Morningstar. These scripts are designed to allow people who are new and familiar with Blood on the Clocktower to explore its characters in new an interesting combinations.

Each script is a way to explore experimental characters in the middle of more familiar ones while also showcasing familiar characters in the context of new interactions. They have each been built according to the following rules:

Something Old, Something New

All scripts feature a mix of characters from the base three games, but mixed in with characters from Carousel.

No Jinxes

None of these scripts feature any jinxes, to reduce the amount of rules needed to begin playing these scripts. Jinxes are special rules to allow two incompatible characters to work together on the same script.

The scripts here feature my own custom icons as these are not official scripts. I’ve attempted to make them close to the official ones to make them easy to use with official tokes.

These scripts feature all characters from the Core and Carousel at least once, and no more than twice,* which means if you happen to have two copies of the token sets you can make complete sets of these if you happen to have two sets of tokens.

*NB: Imp appears thrice, but two sets provides 8 Imp tokens, so you can make it work.

The files attached have been made for A4 dimensions, being the international standard. I may get around to making Letter format, but that actually requires a lot of work as these are all very customised.

Gentle Night

BEGINNER

Gentle Night offers a relatively easy entry. It has a mix of characters from the base three scripts, to provides a way to explore these new roles with some familiar options.

Lemming Jeopardy

BEGINNER

Lemming Jeopardy doesn’t play and feel like a typical game. It’s loud, it’s noisy, and moves fast. With the exception of Leviathan, the games tend to end by day 3.

I usually use this as a palate cleanser game, because the stakes don’t feel as intense. The game tends to blow up in unusual ways.

Sugar & Spice

INTERMEDIATE

This is a game where non-deaths happen, and the Outsiders are not reliable.

There is misinformation in the game from Townsfolk, potentially from Outsiders, and most importantly from the Demon.

If you can filter out the noise from the good poison, it will help you lock down the Demon.

The Widening Gyre

INTERMEDIATE

The Widening Gyre is a game of movement and misdirection. The demons tend to have a way to move around, and so the information that the good players gather is powerful but can get stale.

One of the key features is the drunk and the hermit drunk (which I call the mean drunk). Given they also have the mutant ability, they had best be careful about how loudly they question whether they’re an outsider.

Monstrous Regiment

INTERMEDIATE

Monstrous regiment is trying to put as much emphasis on the Minions as possible. The Demons and the Outsiders ten to interact with the Minions in key ways.

These interactions can also provide subtle clues about where and what the Demon is.

Unbroken Slumber

INTERMEDIATE

In this game, there is an emphasis on the deaths at the beginning of the game. There are a couple of factors that might lead to non-deaths, and there are a couple of factors that could lead to a lot of deaths.

This is a BMR adjacent game, taking those aspects and running them through a different perspective.

Hunger Games

INTERMEDIATE

The goal of this game is to put a lot of tension on the executions. Many of the Minions will make players second guess the idea of maximal executions. At the same time, some of the evil options push you towards maximal executions.

Of course, the evil team can’t be too heavy handed with this, as they very quickly eliminate candidates for the Demon.

NB: Magician with Kazali or Lord of Typhon might seem odd, but if Minions completely avoid interacting with Magician it’s a significant tell as to being one of those two Demons.

The Iron Curtain

ADVANCED

This is a game where the evil team makes a lot of noise. Intentionally. All of this could be an Atheist Storyteller just running interference.

There is a tension between coming out publicly for the Atheist, versus some Demons wanting to hunt specific targets.

NB: One unusual combination is the Demon getting the Atheist ability. If this happens, the Storyteller should break the rules in interesting ways that helps evil, but the Storyteller should telegraph the ability a little more strongly, forcing evil to decide when to lose the help.

Court of Miracles

ADVANCED

This is meant to be a mean game. It’s a tension between the Legion where you don’t want to execute, and the Vortox where you must.

On top of this, your information is likely wrong, but the key question is why.
